Cocopeat products sorted by material

Due to its unique structure coir pith has more different sized fraction, each with different characteristics, which helping the plants in different ways. These fractions of the cocopeat can be evaluated for horticultural use by their reaction with air and water. Mixing these fractions it is possible to create the right substrate for any kind of plant.

Our Standard cocopeat, which is 100% pith is a mixture of fine and coarse pith plus different sized fiber. This material is used in a pure or a mixed form is a widely used substrate in the horticulture. It is capable to retain a lots of water, which provides a great buffer during the hot periods. In the container technology it is watered less frequently with a larger volumes - this makes this substrate useable for growers using simple irrigation system.

The Optima mixtures are the right substrate for the long crop. Besides their pith content, they contain chips as well, which allows the more frequent dripping and smaller volumes, since its lets through the water easier, allows to leave more drain and due to these the substrate will be never airless.

The Optima 50-50 contains 50% chips and 50% pith. This is the most widely used mxiture. It is recommended for early planting (December - January - February - March). It is used for vegetable (tomato, pepper), cutflower (rose, carnation) and for softfruit (strawberry).

The Optima 70-30 contains 70% chips and 30% pith. This is the dryest substrate, suitable for very early planting (October - November - December). It can be used for  cucumber, tomato and pepper.

The chips is produced from the coconut husk by slicing it. The surface of the max. 2 cm pieces of chips is wetable, but is mainly used to loosen up the substrate and make it more airy. In a pure form it can be used only for gerbera growing, but as a component of mixtures will loosen them up and makes them more airy. The chips is also used as a drain layer in the containers and buckets.

The long and short fiber has a very small water retaining cabaility, but by a capillar water transport it can deliver quite a lot water between dry and wet parts - supporting this way the development and the maintanance of the balanced water-air ratio. This component is not used in a pure form.
